Office Design and Employee Wellness with Heather Oden and Amalia Mohr, featured in ALA’s Legal Management Talk

In a podcast on 9/8, Amalia is featured as a guest on Legal Management Talk, ALA podcast, where she discusses design concepts for Ball Janik’s Portland Headquarters. Amalia details various design decisions her team incorporated to accentuate wellness in the workplace.

“Wellness is a huge design driver right now,” she said. “We were so excited for the Ball Janik team to truly embrace it. Wellness isn’t a trend; it was prevalent before the pandemic, but the pandemic really focused people on taking care of themselves and being in environments they want to be in, and we want the office to be that space.”

Amalia elaborates on more design elements, stating, “We like to introduce a lot of design elements within the wellness component. We tried to have as much glass throughout the space as we could. We really wanted to embrace nature in terms of plants and biophilia, and we loved that Ball Janik had plants everywhere and embraced that. When you come into the office you feel like you’re just meant to be there.”

“It’s a different feeling when you visit Ball Janik,” said Heather Oden, COO at Ball Janik. “It’s such a fabulous space to gather, share, and be with one another. It is like walking into a jewel box, with these spaces of comfort where you sit in this very comfortable chair looking at the phenomenal views of Portland, Oregon. When LRS designed our space, they came up with the concept of removing the corner offices; they made them so that our spaces are right-sized. They made these beautiful spaces, carved out by the mountain views where you can sit, look out the window, and feel a bit more comfortable and relaxed.”
