Canal Commons features one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments in Bend with rents below 60% of Area Median Income. Bright open breezeways connect the apartments, and features a timeless, contemporary design that fits the family affordable aesthetic.
The LRS project team focused on altering the size of the housing units, adding mechanical and electronic systems to supplement comfortability, and establishing an interlinking design philosophy with exterior systems to reduce utility costs throughout the complex.
Sustainable practices implemented include: energy-efficient exterior walls, high-efficiency air source heating/cooling, Energy Recovery Ventilation for all units, solar-generated electricity and solar-heated water,triple-pane equivalent windows, dual-flush toilets and drought-tolerant landscaping.
