Canal Commons in the News

November 30, 2022

In a feature story published in Cascade Business News, Jim Landin is quoted detailing various aspects of the Canal Commons Community Phase 2 Project. Canal Commons is a 48,848 sq. ft affordable housing development with two three-story buildings and 48 total units. The project boasts sustainable technology such as solar rooftops, triple pane equivalent windows, and drought-tolerant landscaping.

“We have done several projects in the affordable housing sector with Pacific Crest in Central Oregon, and each is unique in its own way and utilizes a different model,” said Jim. “This one is designed in a more contemporary style, built as three-story walk-ups with entry from exterior stairways, which families, in particular, prefer versus the elevator with interior hallways model.”

The project was developed through two phases, with Phase one finished at the end of 2019 while Phase two started during the pandemic and recently finished. LRS partnered with Pacific Crest Affordable Housing and SunWest Builders on the project.
