Portland’s newest skybridge set to open next year, published in the Portland Business Journal

Parkview at Terwilliger Plaza’s expansion project will see its state-of-the-art skybridge be erected in August. The project is highlighted in an article published in the Portland Business Journal on 7/27. Peter is quoted detailing the innovation, groundbreaking nature, and purpose of the project and skybridge. The skybridge, which is the first of its kind in downtown Portland, will cross over Southwest 6th Avenue connecting the Parkview expansion to the existing Terwilliger Plaza.

Parkview at Terwilliger Plaza is an innovative and fascinating project, not only due to its Passive House Design, but also the groundbreaking skybridge,” said Peter, LRS’s lead architect on the project. “Crossing the busy SW 6th Avenue and Sheridan intersection could be dangerous. The skybridge’s purpose is to provide Terwilliger Plaza Members an intentional and direct connection to the two campuses to support an engaged and inclusive community.”

Terwilliger Plaza, a non-profit retirement community established in 1962, partnered with LRS, Walsh Construction, and PAE to construct the expansion project and skybridge. The new building will be completed in 2023, will stand 10 stories high, and offer 127 independent-living units.
