Bend, Oregon
The Westman Hotel
Estimated Completion Date
Fall 2025The Westman, a new boutique hotel in downtown Bend, will revitalize the historic post office building at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Wall Street. Named after 1880s mail carrier Millie Westman, the space will connect guests with a piece of Oregon history. Designed as a “love letter to Bend,” the project restores the beauty of the original structure, sustainably preserving existing materials, and giving new purpose to the historic building.

The LRS team provided interior design services, embracing the challenge of modernizing the space while maintaining the history, style, and nostalgic charm of the old building. Many of the building’s original structure and materials have been retained and restored, including terrazzo flooring, original windows, and much of the granite and brickwork.
The Westman will feature 23 unique rooms designed to showcase the historical elements of the building. Each room and common area evokes coziness and warmth, inviting guests to slow down and appreciate their surroundings, with fireplaces, lounges, and reading nooks and a rich palette of color, texture, and materials. One standout feature is a historic postal vault door that was uncovered during the demolition and is now integrated as a focal point. In addition to the guest rooms, the property features an intimate cocktail bar, a restored historic lobby, a cozy parlor, and lush outdoor spaces.
