How human-centered design can aid companies’ workspaces | DJC Opinion by Darcie McConnaha and Britney Hale
April 28, 2025
“As companies reexamine the future of hybrid work and set requirements for employees returning to the office in 2025, they also face new questions about how to upgrade spaces or create new ones that set a fresh tone for company culture and morale.”
LRS Senior Associate Darcie McConnaha and Associate Britney Hale have a new guest column published this week in the DJC Oregon! Darcie and Britney are interior designers at LRS who bring vast combined experience with civic and commercial office design, and they have been instrumental in guiding our approach to hybrid workplace design in recent years. In their new piece for the DJC, they explore the concept of “human-centered design” and what that can look like in the design process and design outcomes, particularly for employers reimagining their offices to permanently embrace hybrid work.
Their article features a case study of one of LRS’ earliest hybrid workplace designs, a national headquarters for childcare provider KinderCare. Check out the article in full at this link, and look for it in print on Monday!
